Generac Power Systems 6245 Details and Specifications
The Generac Model 6245 generator provides standby power in an emergency. When Installed with a Generac automatic transfer switch, it keeps your home supplied with power during a power outage, even if you are not home. The 6245 sold by Norwall Power Systems uses the state of the art Evolution Controller to handle all generator functions and ensure trouble free operation to keep the generator ready for use at all times. The Generac 8kW Guardian Generator comes with a 5 year limited consumer warranty.
Fuel choices
Standby Generators from Generac operate on either LP gas or Natural Gas and are convertible in the field to accommodate either installation, without the need for any tools. The home's current fuel supply―either natural gas or LP gas―is usually the deciding factor when selecting the type of generator fuel. LP gas installations provide 8000 watts of capacity while natural gas provides 7000 watts. Fuel consumption at half load is about .87 gallons per hour for LP gas, and about 72 cubic feet per hour for natural gas. Fuel consumption is directly related to the electrical load and varies continuously during normal operation. Required fuel pressure to generator fuel inlet at all load ranges 3.5" - 7" water column for natural gas or 10" - 12" water column for LP gas.
Engine
The 410 cc air-cooled, overhead-cam industrial engine was designed and manufactured specifically for use in Generac's standby generators. It runs at 3600 RPM and is capable of producing up to 14.8 horsepower. Engine features include "Spiny-Lok" cast iron cylinder walls for extra rigidity and durability, a fully pressurized oil lubrication system, electronic ignition, and a 2 year / 200 hour oil change schedule for extended operation before maintenance is required.
Evolution Controls
The Evolution Controller by Generac operates the standby generator. When an outage occurs, it starts the generator and instructs the transfer switch to move the house onto generator power. During operation, it constantly monitors the load and engine speed to ensure consistent, utility grade power suitable for the most sensitive of electronics. At the same time, it monitors various sensors to ensure trouble-free operation.
Other features of the Evolution Controller include a programmable exercise period which keeps the generator lubricated and extends the life of seals and bearings. It includes a smart battery charger to keep the battery charged at its optimum level, a sophisticated fault detection system, and alerts the homeowner when maintenance is required. A dealer programmable start delay allows a 2 to 1500 second startup delay to prevent starting during momentary outages and voltage sags.
Mobile Link Compatible
Take advantage of Generac’s Mobile Link cellular remote monitoring system and check on your generator’s status using your computer, tablet or smartphone, even when you are away. Sold Separately.
Generator Unit
The alternator generates electricity using a revolving magnetic field design which provides better voltage regulation and higher surge capacity than a stationary field. Combined with skewed stators on a stationary armature, the generator output is clean and steady even when the load is constantly changing. The high surge capacity allows the generator to start motors, even when other appliances have the generator under load.
Easy Installation
When combined with a pre-wired transfer switch, re-engineered connection points, and composite mounting pad that eliminates the need for a poured concrete base (unless specified by local codes), the Guardian Series 8kW generator is easy to install.
Appearance and Noise
The 6245 is 48 inches wide, 25 inches deep, and 29 inches high. With an eye pleasing design, an enclosure that resists corrosion, and a 62db noise level that is quieter than most central air conditioning units, this generator will fit well into any neighborhood. The unit cover opens to allow easy access for maintenance and locks with a key to prevent tampering.
