Westinghouse STS1 Details and Specifications
Westinghouse ST Switch
Automatic Portable Transfer Switch Two 5-20R Outlets Rated for 120-Volts at 20 Amps
The Westinghouse ST Switch is a portable, automatic, Smart Transfer Switch for use with some Westinghouse Generators equipped with an ST Switch Port. It requires no special knowledge to use and is not permanently installed like most transfer switches.
When the power goes out, the ST switch starts the portable generator and switches the connected appliances to generator power.
*Compatible Only with Specific Westinghouse Generators. See List Below.
How the Westinghouse ST Switch Works
Plug an extension cord into any standard 20-amp household outlet and the ST Switch. A special ST cable connects the generator to the ST Switch through the generator’s ST Port. Another cable supplies power from the Generator. When the utility power is on, the switch supplies power from the household outlet to the appliances AND maintains/charges the generator battery.
When a power outage or blackout occurs, the ST Switch disconnects the household outlet, sends a signal to the portable generator to start, and begins supplying power to the appliances from the generator. Once utility power returns, the generator shuts off in about two minutes.
