Briggs and Stratton Maintenance Kit 17kW-26kW Power Protect
The Briggs and Stratton Maintenance Kit contains all the parts for scheduled preventative maintenance. On-time maintenance is required for continued operation of the generator. Briggs & Stratton’s 6872 maintenance kit is for 17kW, 20kW, and 26kW Power Protect Standby Generators with a 993 cc V-Twin Vanguard Engine.
Also Replaces Briggs and Stratton Kit 6036 for 15kW and 20kW Continuum and Intelligen Generators.
The maintenance kit includes:
- Air Filter
- Oil Filter
- 2 Spark Plugs
- 5W30 Full Synthetic Oil
Power Protect Maintenance Kit Schedule
Regular maintenance according to the schedule keeps your generator operating through an extended outage lasting days or weeks. It ensures quick, smooth starts, improves longevity, and is required by the warranty.
100 Hours is just over 4 days. Keep several maintenance kits on hand for long outages along with several bottles of Full Synthetic 5W30 oil for daily use.
Every 8 Hours of Operation or Daily
- Clean debris from around generator and intakes.
- Check Engine Oil level. Top off as necessary. Do Not Overfill.
Every 100 Hours of Operation or Annually
- Change the Air Filter
- Change the Oil Filter
- Change the Oil
- Replace Spark Plugs
- Check Valve Clearance
- Check Circuit Breaker Torques
Annually
- Clean Oil Cooler Fins
Regular On-Time Maintenance improves performance and extends the life of the generator.
Before Service:
- Push On/Off switch to OFF(0).
- Remove utility power to the generator.
- Open roof. Remove the 15-Amp fuse located below the controller
- Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
Reverse these steps after servicing the generator.
