Powered by a Champion 739cc Milwaukee Series V-Twin OHV engine, the 13500 watt generator has plenty of power for home backup or job site power. It runs on regular gasoline, propane*, and natural gas. The Multi-Fuel engine’s low-oil sensor automatically detects low oil and shuts down to prevent engine damage. Electric start and cold start technology simplify startup, especially in cold weather. Uses 5W-30 Oil (included).

The engine operates at 79 dBA measured at 23 feet.

CO Shield Carbon Monoxide Automatic Shutdown

This generator comes equipped with CO Shield, a carbon monoxide sensor that shuts the generator down when it detects Carbon Monoxide.

The Champion 13500 Watt Tri Fuel Generator is for outdoor use only, positioned away from homes and other buildings, with the exhaust pointed away from any persons or buildings.

Carbon Monoxide (CO) is an odorless, invisible gas produced by internal combustion engines and any device that burns a fuel to produce heat or energy. The CO Shield shutdown feature adds an extra measure of safety to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning caused by misuse.

The Champion Generator Owner Manual explicitly states that the generator is only for use outdoors. Keep the generator at least 20-feet away from any windows, doors, vents, or other openings with the exhaust pointed away from buildings and preferably downwind.

According to the Champion Owner Manual and Website, this generator May NOT run indoors. All homes should have a working, up to date, carbon monoxide detector on each level of the home.

What Can a 13500 Watt Generator Run?

The 13500 Watt Champion Generator can run any load or combination of loads that does not exceed the continuous load rating of 13500 Watts for gasoline, 12000 watts for propane, or 11000 watts for natural gas. The load with the highest starting watts must not exceed the generator maximum surge or starting watts capacity by itself or while supporting other loads. 

For example, if a Central AC Unit Requires 7000 Running Watts and 14000 Starting Watts, the Champion 13500 Watt Generator running on Gasoline could run the AC unit provided the other combined loads totaled less than 6500 Running Watts. A combined load of more than 6500 watts would exceed the generator maximum whenever the AC unit starts. Use of a soft starter on the AC Unit could alleviate this restriction and allow you to add more loads. In all cases, compare the generator capacity to the total load taken from the appliance documentation or nameplate.
