Peace of mind
Very happy with our Cummins 20Kw. It seems to run quieter than a neighbor's Generac. Personally, I think it looks better and less obtrusive than the Generac. Highly recommend getting a professional electrician and plumber for installation.

Factory support & troubleshooting
We installed this generator for a customer who bought it himself with a 400 amp transfer switch. we have installed many generators over the years--Generac, Kohler, Columbia and a few other off brand names. The basic installation was no different than any other. The tricky part is with the control wiring. The generator needs 3 low voltage control wires from the transfer switch to the generator and a 120 volt, 20 amp circuit for the battery charger, block heater, oil heater and battery heater. The installation manual and wiring diagram are very vague on this. I consider the control wiring the most important part of the installation. In the transfer switch is a terminal block for 9 wires and coincidently in the generator, there are also 9 wagos for termination. Only 3 a43 used and a jumper is installed in the transfer switch. How do I know this? Technical support from the factory is non-existent. I called and described the fault and factory tech immediately stated I needed a service call from the local dealer. NOT CHEAP! Once the service tech showed up, he called the tech service at the factory and we discovered the need for only 3 control wires not 9. Oh and the labeling is helter skelter too. The generator lable says 1-TB1 which one would think was terminal 1 on the terminal board in the transfer switch. NOPE. It goes to terminal 3. Not happy with the lack of instructions nor tech support from cummins. Will not recommend a cummins generator.

A good unit poorly packaged and Norwall lost a customer.
I waited many weeks for this product, was charged $130.00 extra shipping because it was a rural delivery, it came on a pallet covered in cardboard and plastic like most other generators do however there were two 2" holes in the bottom for securing that are not closed open to the weather which allowed a family of mice to move in and start to damage things. There was no physical damage on the outside and it did sit on the job for a week before I opened it up. Norwall said I should have installed it right away but who ships electrical equipment with holes open to the weather. The people at Norwall took advantage of that and said they could be of no help because I didn't notify them within 24 hrs. My customer now doesn't want a damaged generator and I have to buy a new one somewhere else. The least Cummins could have done was to put plugs on the holes before shipping! I have recommended Norwall to many and have bought at least 6 units from them but no more. Rob C, Massachusetts Master Electrician.
