5500 Watts 6875 Starting Watts COSense Auto Shutdown Electric Start EPA 50-State
EPA & California Emissions. For Sale in All 50 States
The Generac GP5500E is a 5500 Watt Generator with Electric Start and 50-State Emissions. COSense Technology automatically shuts down the generator in the presence of Carbon Monoxide. It features a fuel-efficient 289cc EFI engine that requires less maintenance. Electric start gets you up and running fast, and an hour meter helps track maintenance periods.
This generator is compatible with the HomeLink 30-Amp Manual Transfer Switch Kit (sold separately.)
COSENSE Carbon Monoxide Detection and Shutdown
This generator comes equipped with CO Sense a carbon monoxide sensor that shuts the generator down when it detects Carbon Monoxide.
The Generac 5500 Watt Generator is for outdoor use only, positioned away from homes and other buildings, with the exhaust pointed away from any persons or buildings.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) is an odorless, invisible gas produced by internal combustion engines and any device that burns a fuel to produce heat or energy. The CO Sense shutdown feature adds an extra measure of safety to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning caused by misuse.
The Generac Owner Manual explicitly states that this generator is only for use outdoors. Keep the generator at least 20-feet away from any windows, doors, vents, or other openings with the exhaust pointed away from buildings and preferably downwind.
According to the Generac Owner Manual and Website, This Generator May NOT Run Indoors. All homes should have a working, up to date, carbon monoxide detector on each level of the home.
Read the Owner Manual Before Use. Obey all safety instructions and the decals on the generator.
