Generac Power Systems 7409 Details and Specifications
Whole House Surge Protector
The Generac Surge Protection Device guards against surges in the electrical grid caused by lightning, utility switching, power surges, and any other voltage transient in your local distribution lines. Transients and surges enter your home’s electrical system from the grid and damage your electronics, appliances, smart home devices, and lighting fixtures.
Power Surges, Spikes, and Voltage Transients may cause gradual damage over time to smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, AFCI and GFCI circuits. The damage may cause these safety devices to fail when needed. The 2020 National Electrical Code requires a Surge Protection Device in all new service installations and replacements.
Damage caused by surges is not visible and periodic tests don't reveal the problem until it causes an inexplicable failure. Mobile phones, computers, televisions and other electronics are also at risk. Modern appliances like refrigerators, washers, and dryers also have electronic components easily damaged by power surges and voltage transients. A Whole House Surge Protector blocks the surges and transients from entering your home.
Generac Surge Protection Device
The Generac Whole House Surge Protector has a NEMA 4x enclosure for installation indoors or out. It installs** in the main service panel or service rated transfer switch. Thermally protected Metal Oxide Varistors (MOVs) activate when voltage rises above 150/300 Volts AC. When a power surge traveling the lines reaches your home, the MOVs redirect the surge voltage to ground, preventing it from entering your home and causing damage.
