Generac announced the new Next Gen series of Home Standby Generators, including the Generac 28kW, the most powerful air-cooled home standby generator on the market. The Next Gen series introduces a wide range of improvements and new features, including a new engine featuring a new head design, hydraulic lifters, Electronic Fuel & Ignition Control (EFIC), Oil Level Sensors, and Fuel Pressure Sensor. Generac beats the industry stand maintenance interval with a 200-hour, best-in-class, interval between oil changes.

Generac Next Gen Generators

The Next Gen series includes air-cooled standby generators from 10kW to 28kW and includes a 20kW 3-Phase model. Three new engines power the line: 459cc for the 10kW, 817cc for the 14kW and 18kW, and 997cc for the 20kW-28kW generators. All the engines feature new head designs and hydraulic lifters (no more valve adjustments!) 

When Generac rolled out the 22kW in 2014, it quickly took the lead as the most powerful home standby available. In August of 2020, they  brought out the 24kW as the next most powerful generator. The 26kW announcement came 2 years later in 2022. Early 2025 brought the announcement of the Next Gen series with the 28kW leading the charge for the most powerful home standby available.
