Generac Power Systems RD05033A Details and Specifications
Generac Protector Series 50kW Automatic Standby Diesel Generator
The Protector 50 kilowatt diesel standby generator from Generac protects homes and businesses from electric utility outages. The Protector works with an automatic transfer switch (separate purchase) to automatically supply electrical power for HVAC, refrigeration, pumps, lights, and security systems and provides peace of mind from the worry that a power outage will leave your home or business without electrical power. Generac supplies Protector Series standby generators with a manufacturer 5-year limited warranty.
Generac Diesel Protector Generators come equipped with Mobile Link Connectivity. Monitor generator status from anywhere with a smartphone, tablet, or PC. Access status and maintenance alerts. Connect with authorized service dealers for fast, proactive service.
Code Ready
Code Ready simplifies compliance with varying local building codes and ordinances by supplying features and accessories specific to different code requirements.
The fuel tank is a UL/CUL-142 listed, double-walled tank with external vent and fill. Leaks are contained within the secondary outer tank to prevent environmental contamination. The leak detection system issues an alarm and shuts down the generator if fuel leakage is detected.
Fuel tank risers, drop tubes, spill containment and recovery systems, low-fuel-level alarms, and emergency stop and fuel cut off are just some of the optional accessories that make code compliance simple.
Engine
Generac powers the 50kW Protector with a 3.3 liter, in-line four-cylinder diesel engine. The liquid-cooled OHV engine has cast-iron heads and aluminum cylinders for a long life of reliable and efficient service. Engine protection features include low oil, high temperature, over-speed/over-crank shutdown to prevent engine damage and alert the owner to the need for maintenance.
The 62-gallon integrated-base fuel tank provides 24 hours of operation at half load. At full load, expect the engine to use about 4 gallons of fuel per hour. Fuel consumption is directly dependent on electrical load and varies as the load changes.
Evolution Controls
The Evolution Controller operates the generator independently without operation intervention. It detects a power outage immediately and starts the generator after a dealer programmable two to 1500 second delay (delay prevents starting during momentary outages), then signals the automatic transfer switch to disconnect the utility's lines and connect the generator.
The utility supply is reconnected when power is restored and the engine runs in a cool-down mode, then shuts off.
Controllers functions and reports are accessed via a multi-lingual, two-line display and membrane keypad. The keypad supplies generator status at a glance with colored LEDs, and allows programming exercise periods and maintenance schedules, and access to reports and alerts.
An integral function of the controller is a smart battery charger that maintains the battery's charge level and monitors battery health. An alert is issued to change the battery before it fails and can no longer start the generator. Also included in the Evolution's functions are voltage and frequency regulation, extensive fault reporting, and monitoring engine sensors.
Generator Unit
A generator unit connected directly to the engine produces clean, noise-free power that meets or exceeds electric utility standards. The heavy-duty revolving-field generator supplies electrical loads with utility-quality electricity for sensitive electronics and power hungry motors, even when electrical loading is heavy and continually changing.
Appearance and Noise
Designed for light commercial use, the Protector Series 50kW 3-Phase standby generator has a pleasing appearance and a noise level (70dB) that compares with central air conditioners. The unit is 96 inches wide, 56 inches high, and 35 inches deep and has a window in it's aluminum enclosure for viewing the controller display, status, and main circuit breaker.
The unit with its integrated base fuel tank installs on a poured concrete slab at least five feet from the building, depending on local codes.
The RD05033 is only availalbe for 3 phase voltages, please view the RD04833AL or RD04833A for single phase voltage.
Compatible with Generac RXSC, RXSW, RTSW, RTSN automatic transfer switches for 3-Phase current, 100-800 amp.
